WASHINGTON (AP) - Washington Mutual Inc., the nation's biggest savings and loan, spent $360,000 in the first half of 2007 to lobby the federal government, according to a disclosure form.The bank lobbied on credit card and overdraft practices, information security, bills related to anti-predatory lending and risky mortgages, patent reform, immigration and other issues.Besides Congress, the Seattle-based company lobbied the White House, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp., Federal Reserve System, the Housing and Urban Development Department, Federal Communications Commission and other agencies.The disclosure form was posted online Aug. 14 by the Senate's public records office.Under a federal law enacted in 1995, lobbyists are required to disclose activities that could influence members of the executive and legislative branches.
