United Solar installs Alcoa power system

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (AP) - A subsidiary of solar cell maker Energy Conversion Devices Inc. said Friday it installed a solar power system at an Alcoa facility in California.

United Solar Ovonic installed 4,300 UNI-Solar thin-film photovoltaic laminates to power aluminum maker Alcoa's Building and Construction Systems' Kawneer manufacturing facility in Visalia, Calif.

Alcoa shares rose 62 cents to $36.77 in afternoon trading. Energy Conversion shares gained 8 cents to reach $25.75.
