PHOENIX (AP) - The state has awarded a contract to put radar-triggered mobile speed-enforcement cameras on state highways to a company that used to operate Scottsdale's Loop 101 freeway enforcement system.Company and state Department of Public Safety spokesmen say the contract for the first stage of a speed-enforcement program went to Redflex Traffic Systems Incorporated of Scottsdale. Governor Janet Napolitano authorized it earlier this year. The first stage involves placing sensor-triggered cameras in vans or sport utility vehicles that would be placed on highways at locations picked by DPS.A second stage would put cameras on Phoenix-area freeways.Copyright 2007 Associated Press.
