National Australia Bank increases share buyback to 1.2 bln aud |

SYDNEY (XFN-ASIA) - National Australia Bank Ltd said it has decided to increase the size of its current share buyback program by 700 mln aud to 1.2 bln aud.It said the buyback period has been extended from to Sept 30, 2007 from March 30.Australia's largest bank by assets said it has extended the buyback to more efficiently manage the company's capital.The bank announced in November a buyback of 500 mln aud worth of shares following a 10 pct rise in net profit for the year ended September to a record 4.392 bln aud.(1 usd = 1.29 aud)bruce.hextall@xfn.com
