BEIJING (XFN-ASIA) - China plans to raise the capacity in its power stations to 840 mln Kw in 2010, up from 622 mln kw at the end of 2006, the official Xinhua news agency reported, citing a senior official at the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC).Zhao Xiaoping, the director of NDRC's Bureau of Energy, said that the country's thermal power installed capacity will stand at 593 mln kw at the end of 2010, while hydropower capacity is expected to be raised to 190 mln kw.Meanwhile, the installed capacity of natural gas power, nuclear power and wind power are expected to be raised to 36 mln, 10 mln and 5 mln kw respectively at the end of 2010, he said.Zhao added that the country's power grid construction still lags economic development, and the problem of unauthorized power plant construction has not yet been been resolved.zachary.wei@xfn.com
