Mylan gets FDA OK for new Duragesic dose |

PITTSBURGH (AFX) - Drug maker Mylan Laboratories Inc. said Wednesday that the Food and Drug Administration approved the company's fifth strength of a line of generic pain patches marketed by Johnson & Johnson Inc.The FDA approved Mylan's 12 microgram per hour fentanyl transdermal system, a generic version of the Duragesic pain patch sold by J&J unit Ortho-McNeil.Mylan said it is the first generic drug maker to offer all five dosage strengths of the patch.The company said it will begin shipping the new dose immediately.Mylan shares fell 8 cents to $21.95 in morning trading on the New York Stock Exchange.Copyright 2006 Associated Press.
