Telefonica's Alierta, Linares to join Telecom Italia board - report

MADRID (Thomson Financial) - Telefonica chairman Cesar Alierta and managing director Julio Linares are set to take board seats at Telecom Italia after it and partners paid 3.3 bln eur for a controlling stake in the Italian operator, the Financial Times reported

Alierta could join as early as next week, it added.

Meanwhile, Telecom Italia CEO Riccardo Ruggiero is considering resigning, said people close to talks between members of the new controlling group and headhunters.
