Siga names Rose chief executive |

NEW YORK (AFX) - Biopharmaceutical company Siga Technologies Inc. on Wednesday named Board Member Eric A. Rose chief executive, effective March 1.He also was named chairman on Jan. 25, replacing Donald G. Drapkin, who will continue as a board member.Chief financial Officer Tom Konatich had been serving as acting chief executive.Rose is currently chairman of the department of surgery at Columbia University and surgeon-in-chief of the Columbia Presbyterian Center of New York Presbyterian Hospital. He served as interim chief executive of Siga in 2001.The company said Rose would help with the company's smallpox antiviral drug as it goes through regulatory approval.Siga shares rose 12 cents, or 3.4 percent, to $3.69 during afternoon trading on the Nasdaq.
