LONDON (Thomson Financial) - US crude posted a surprise fall in the week to Oct 19, while distillate stocks decreased by more than expected, data from the US Energy Information Administration (EIA) showed.Crude inventories fell by 3.9 mln barrels in the week to 312.7 mln barrels, against expectations for a 100,000-barrel rise, while gasoline stocks rose by 1.3 mln barrels, against a forecast rise of 205,000 barrels.Stocks of distillates, which include heating oil, rose 800,000 barrels on the week, against expectations for a fall of 655,000 barrels.Turning to refineries, the EIA said they operated at 86.2 pct of their capacity, against 87.1 pct in last week's report.maytaal.angel@thomson.comma/as/jrrCOPYRIGHTCopyright Thomson Financial News Limited 2007.
