NEW YORK (Thomson Financial) - Allied Waste Industries Inc. Wednesday reported third-quarter earnings from continuing operations of $66.9 million, or 15 cents a share. These results include a loss of $39 million, or 7 cents a share, related to divestitures and asset impairments, as well as debt refinancing costs of 2 cents a share.Exclusive of all these items, the company earned 24 cents a share in the latest quarter.Revenue rose 2% in the latest three months to $1.56 billion from $1.53 billion in the same period last year. The mean estimate of analysts polled by Thomson Financial was for a profit of 22 cents a share in the period on revenue of $1.6 billion. The Phoenix-based provider of waste services attributed the revenue increase from last year's level to an increase in prices but said the impact of the higher pricing was partially offset by a 3.7% decline in same-store volume because of a slowdown in its economy-sensitive business lines, including roll-off, construction and special waste.Allied Waste added that it now sees free cash flow of more than $400 million for the full year.Michael BaronmbCOPYRIGHTCopyright Thomson Financial News Limited 2007.
