Advance Auto Parts 3Q earnings $59M vs $58.9M

NEW YORK (Thomson Financial) - Advance Auto Parts Inc. Wednesday reported third-quarter earnings of $59 million, or 57 cents a share, up slightly from a year-ago profit of $58.9 million, or 56 cents a share.

Excluding certain items, such as severance costs and asset write-offs, the Roanoke, Va., car parts seller said it earned 61 cents a share in the latest quarter.

Sales rose to $1.16 billion in the quarter from $1.1 billion in the same period a year earlier. Same-store sales rose 1.1% for the quarter.

The mean estimate of analysts polled by Thomson Financial was for a profit of 58 cents a share in the latest quarter on revenue of $1.14 billion.

For the fourth quarter, Advance Auto expects earnings of 36 to 40 cents a share. Wall Street's current consensus estimate is for a profit of 38 cents a share in the period.

For 2007, the company forecast adjusted earnings, excluding items, of $2.32 to $2.36 a share. It sees free cash flow of $200 million to $220 million for the year.
