WASHINGTON (AP) - Wachovia Corp. won federal approval to open four branches, a government agency said Wednesday.The Treasury Department's Office of the Comptroller of the Currency said in a weekly bulletin of regulatory activity that Charlotte, N.C.-based Wachovia's requests to open the branches were approved Oct. 23.The branches will be located in Houston, Atlanta, San Antonio and Allendale, N.J.Shares of Wachovia dropped 24 cents to close at $45.73 Wednesday.Copyright 2007 Associated Press.
