NEW YORK (Thomson Financial) - United Rentals Inc. reported late Wednesday third-quarter earnings from continuing operations rose to $111 million, or 97 cents a share, from $88 million, or 79 cents a share, on a similar basis a year earlier.The mean estimate of analysts polled by Thomson Financial was for earnings of 93 cents a share for the quarter.Revenue for the three-month period ended Sept. 30 rose 1.1% to $994 million, below analyst expectations of $1.06 billion.The stock closed the regular session at $34.19.Wanfeng Zhouwz/khCOPYRIGHTCopyright Thomson Financial News Limited 2007.
