LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - The state Labor Department says Nebraska's estimated unemployment rate decreased a tenth of a point in November, to 3.1 percent.In a report issued Monday, the department said the new seasonally adjusted figure is two-tenths of a point higher than November 2006 but 1.6 percentage points lower than the national figure of 4.7 percent for November this year. The national figure is two-tenths of a point higher than a year earlier.Nebraska has added 10,038 jobs since November 2006, the department said. The top three private growth sectors: professional and business services, 5,150 jobs; education and health services, 3,524 jobs; and financial activities, 1,302 jobs.The estimated seasonally adjusted work force rose to 992,167 in November, the department said. Of them, an estimated 31,080 were unemployed. That's an estimated 2,269 more than in November 2006.State Labor Commissioner Fernando Lecuona III said there was growth in the number of temporary employees because of the holiday season.The 11-month average for statewide labor force, seasonally adjusted, is 983,381 -- an all-time high for Nebraska, Lecuona said.'Even with end-of-year revisions, we expect 2007 to be the highest labor force total to date,' he said.For Lincoln, the November unemployment rate was 2.6 percent, one-tenth of a point higher than October and two-tenths of a point higher than November 2006.For Omaha, the November rate was 3.2 percent -- up two-tenths from October and from November 2006.Omaha and Lincoln unemployment rates are not seasonally adjusted and are not compared with the state unemployment rate.Copyright 2007 Associated Press.
