(AP) - Stocks finished a volatile session mixed on Friday as investors remained nervous about rising inflation and dollar weakness. They also gleaned some hope from data showing resilient consumer spending and steady economic growth. The Dow Jones industrials finished the session 5 points higher, but closed the first quarter down about 108 points.The Dow Jones rose 5.60, or 0.05 percent, to 12,354.35.The Standard & Poor's 500 index fell 1.67, or 0.12 percent, to 1,420.86.The Nasdaq composite index edged rose 3.76, or 0.16 percent, to 2,421.64.For the week:The Dow is down 126.66, or 1.01 percent.The S&P is down 15.25, or 1.06 percent.The Nasdaq is down 27.29, or 1.11 percent.For the year:The Dow is down 108.80, or 0.87 percent.The S&P is up 2.56, or 0.18 percent.The Nasdaq is up 6.35, or 0.26 percent.Copyright 2007 Associated Press.
