China shares extend losses in early trading - UPDATE

SHANGHAI (XFN-ASIA) - Share prices in Shanghai and Shenzhen extended their losses in early trading, with most stocks falling sharply, bringing the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index below the 4,000 point level, dealers said

At 10:06 the benchmark was down 164.17 points at 3,888.92, continuing lower after its 6.5 pct fall yesterday in the wake of a tripling in stamp duty on stock trades.
