Mylan gets OK for generic Zithromax |

PITTSBURGH (AP) - Drug maker Mylan Laboratories Inc. said Thursday the Food and Drug Administration approved its generic version of Pfizer Inc.'s Zithromax antibiotic tablets.Mylan Pharmaceuticals Inc., the company' subsidiary, received final approval for its abbreviated new drug applications for 250 milligram and 500 milligram azithromycin tablets, the company said.Azithromycin tablets had U.S. sales of about $886 million for the 12 months ending March 31 for the same strengths, the company said.The company said it will ship the drug immediately.Mylan's shares were up 6 cents to $19.79 in premarket trading after closing at $19.73 on Wednesday.
