NEW YORK (AFX) - Warner Chilcott Ltd. said Monday Watson Pharmaceuticals Inc. has launched a generic version of the oral contraceptive Ovcon 35 under the name Zenchent.Rockaway, N.J.-based Warner Chilcott will supply Zenchent to Corona, Calif.-based Watson.Warner will receive a share of the profits from the Watson's sales of the generic product in the U.S. market.Warner makes the branded version Ovcon 35.Watson challenged Warner's patent on the oral contraceptive shortly after it was launched.Shares of Watson rose 33 cents, or 2.3 percent, to close at $14.76 on the Nasdaq. The stock has traded between $11.77 and $15.32 over the last 52 weeks.Shares of Watson Pharmaceuticals rose 18 cents to close at $26.76 on the New York Stock Exchange.Copyright 2006 Associated Press.
