Progress Energy sets quarterly payout

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) - Electric utility Progress Energy, which delivers power to North Carolina, South Carolina and Florida, on Wednesday declared a regular quarterly dividend of 61 cents per share.

The dividend is payable May 1 to shareholders of record at April 10.

The payout represents a total annual dividend of $2.44 per share.
