COPENHAGEN (AFX) - Carlsberg wants to focus on partnership agreements rather than mergers, Berlingske Business said, citing a report from daily Borsen.

COPENHAGEN (AFX) - Carlsberg wants to focus on partnership agreements rather than mergers, Berlingske Business said, citing a report from daily Borsen.

'If, on a theoretical level, we were to merge with a partner which is two or three times bigger than us, it might well give synergies,' Carlsberg president Povl Krogsgaard-Larsen said, according to Berlingske Business.

'But Carlsberg would pay a price in terms of lost identity,' he added, pointing out that identity 'plays a growing and important role in our marketing.'
