Norway's Statoil to develop LNG projects with China National Petroleum |

BEIJING (XFN-ASIA) - Norway's Statoil will cooperate with China National Petroleum Corp (CNPC), China's largest oil producer, to develop a liquefied natural gas (LNG) projects, a senior Statoil official said.Ole-gohan Lydersen, vice-president of Statoil International EMP Co, told reporters at an industry conference here that both sides will also cooperate on domestic and international oil and gas exploration.Lydersen did not provide further details of the collaboration. Earlier this month, the two sides signed a memorandum of understanding for strategic cooperation.Local media said the two companies may jointly develop Block 14 of the offshore South Pars gas field in Iran.CNPC is in talks with Iran over the project and is expected to sign a seven-year deal soon, according to the official Shanghai Securities News.kelly.zang@xfn.comjuan.chen@xfn.com
