Evergreen will build new $150M plant |

MARLBORO, Mass. (AP) - Solar power product maker Evergreen Solar Inc. said Tuesday it plans to build a new, $150 million manufacturing facility outside of Boston.The new plant will increase Evergreen's production capacity and double its work force in the state to over 600 employees.Massachusetts' government is expected to support the construction with up to $23 million in grants and as much as $17.5 million in low-interest loans.Evergreen's Chief Executive Richard M. Feldt said the plant is a natural evolution of the company's efforts to increase it's U.S. market penetration.Shares of Evergreen Solar Inc. fell six cents Tuesday to $12.01 on the Nasdaq Stock Market.Copyright 2007 Associated Press.
