MONTREAL (AFX) - Bombardier Aerospace announced that Air One, the first privately owned Italian airline, has signed a contract to buy four 90-seat regional jets for about US$142 million. The transaction represents a conversion to a firm order of four options taken when the airline placed its initial order for six CRJ900 aircraft in 2006.'We are very pleased that Air One has decided to order additional CRJ900 aircraft so quickly after their first order,' Steven Ridolfi, president of Bombardier Regional Aircraft, said in a statement.'This is a tribute to the reliability and efficiency of the CRJ900 already in service with the airline.'Twelve airlines have placed firm orders for 175 CRJ705 and CRJ900 aircraft. As of Oct. 31, 90 of the planes have been delivered, Bombardier said.Copyright 2006 Associated Press. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten, or redistributed.
