MILAN (AFX) - Banco Popolare di Verona e Novara has reached a deal with Banca Popolare Italiana's unions on staffing levels ahead of extraordinary general meetings scheduled March 10 to clear an announced merger between the two banks, the daily Finanza & Mercati reported on Saturday.BPVN has agreed that staffing levels will remain at least at their current level of 1,035 in the town of Lodi, where BPI has its headquarters, it said.BPVN is now seeking to reach a deal before the EGM on fringe benefits with unions at its own Credito Bergamasco unit, the newspaper added.philip.webster@thomson.compw/vsCOPYRIGHTCopyright AFX News Limited 2007.
