MILAN (Thomson Financial) - The Italian communications regulator Agcom is proposing to offer a bonus to broadband telecommunications operators investing in the so-called next generation network (NGN), the daily Finanza & Mercati said. The proposal has already been presented to the prime minister's office and would enable companies carrying NGN investments to charge a premium on the fee paid by operators using their networks. The new rules could unblock the sale of Pirelli & C SpA's controlling stake in Telecom Italia SpA and guarantee that operators spend the 10-12 bln eur needed to develop the network, it said.philip.webster@thomson.compw/lamCOPYRIGHTCopyright AFX News Limited 2007.
