Yahoo shares drop on 1Q earnings results

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - Investors were falling in love with Yahoo

Inc. again until the Internet icon's disheartening first-quarter results ruined

the mood. The Internet company's shares plunged 11 percent in Wednesday

morning's trading.

Signet FY pretax profit tops hopes but US environment weakens

LONDON (Thomson Financial) - Signet Group PLC, the Anglo-American jewellery

retailer, has reported a slightly better-than-expected 6.4 pct increase in full

year pretax profit but cautioned that since the start of its new financial year

the trading environment in the US, where it makes three quarters of total sales,

appears to have weakened, sending its shares 6 pct lower.
