WASHINGTON (AP) - U.S. gasoline stockpiles dropped by a larger-than-expected 2.7 million barrels last week, according to government data released Wednesday, leaving inventories at 197 million barrels.Gasoline stockpiles had been expected to fall by an average of 1.45 million barrels for the week ended April 13, according to a Dow Jones Newswires survey of analysts.Crude oil inventories dropped by 1 million barrels last week to 332.4 million barrels, the Energy Department's statistical arm, the Energy Information Administration, said.The government data also showed that stocks of distillate fuel, which include diesel and heating oil, dropped by 800,000 barrels to 117.3 million barrels.Copyright 2007 Associated Press.
