Gazprom completes deal to enter Sakhalin II gas project |

LONDON (Thomson Financial) - Gazprom has completed the deal to purchase a 50 pct stake in the Sakhalin II gas project in eastern Russia from its shareholders, which comprise Royal Dutch Shell PLC and Japan's Mitsui & Co and Mitsubishi Corp.Under the agreement, which was signed in December last year, the Russian oil giant Gazprom has paid 7.45 bln usd in cash to get a stake of 50 pct plus one share in the 20 bln usd project.The transaction has halved the holdings of the Sakhalin-2 shareholders to 27.5 pct for Shell, Mitsui & Co Ltd to 12.5 pct, and Mitsubishi Corp to 10 pct.TFN.newsdesk@thomson.commr/tcCOPYRIGHTCopyright AFX News Limited 2007.
