Charming Shoppes to sell Gitano brand

BENSALEM, Pa. (AP) - Women's clothing retailer Charming Shoppes Inc. said Thursday it signed a licensing deal that allows its Fashion Bug chain to be the exclusive retailer of Gitano branded clothing.

The deal is through Wrangler Apparel Corp., a unit of VF Corp. The Greensboro, N.C.-based apparel maker acquired Gitano in 2000, according to data provider CapitalIQ.

Gitano apparel will begin arriving at Fashion Bug stores in the third quarter, and will include offerings in plus and misses sportswear, as well as footwear.
