BRUSSELS (Thomson Financial) - European airline traffic rose 2.7 pct in April from a year earlier, substantially below 8 pct growth in March, the Association of European Airlines (AEA) said.'The April figures were substantially below the March levels, a result of the see-saw effect of the movable Easter holiday,' the AEA said in a statement.Cross-border flights in Europe were up 5.3 pct, South Atlantic traffic rose 12.1 pct, and Middle Eastern routes posted an increase of 6.5 pct.North Atlantic air traffic was up 1.7 pct, while the Far East posted 1.0 pct growth, a very low level 'even when measured against recent weakening trends in this market', according to the AEA.antonia.vandevelde@thomson.comava/bsdCOPYRIGHTCopyright AFX News Limited 2007.
