CHICAGO (AFX) - The Chicago Board of Trade, which hosts trading of derivatives contracts tied to commodities, interest rates and currencies, on Thursday said its agricultural options set a new daily volume record Wednesday by climbing above 250,000 contracts.The new record of 252,217 contracts eclipses a previous record of 242,189 contracts set on Oct. 13, 2006.The exchange also set a new daily volume record Wednesday for corn options contracts. A total of 186,957 contracts traded, surpassing the previous record of 165,297 contracts set on Nov. 8, 2006.Thirty-Day Federal Funds options also set a new daily record on the exchange with 143,726 contracts traded. The previous record of 133,559 contracts was set on Dec. 13, 2006.Shares of CBOT Holdings Inc., parent company to the exchange, fell $1.71 to close at $170.72 on the New York Stock Exchange, but earlier set a new year high of $173.28.
