BG wins 2 Norwegian North Sea licenses

LONDON (AFX) - Natural gas producer BG Group PLC said it has secured two permits in the latest licensing round of the Norwegian Continental Shelf of the North Sea.

The licences cover the southern North Sea, which contains the Bream discovery, and the North Tampen area in the northern North Sea.

BG will be the operator of the southern North Sea permit.

'In just over three years, we have built up a significant portfolio of prospects in offshore Norway. We now have interests in 23 licences, 14 of which are BG-operated,' BG said, adding it plans to drill five exploration wells on the shelf this year.
