VIENNA (AFX) - The Austrian economy is set to grow an average 2.5 pct a year between 2007 and 2011, according to the latest report by the Austrian Institute of Economic Research (WIFO).WIFO, which compiles statistics for the Austrian economy ministry, said that thanks to the upswing in the German economy the eurozone is likely to enjoy accelerated growth in the medium-term and this will impact Austria. This compares with the average Austrian GDP growth over the past five years of 1.7 pct, WIFO said.Forming the basis of the positive GDP outlook are Austrian exporters which are benefiting greatly from the new EU member states and the opening up of markets to the east and southeast of the Alpine country, WIFO said.fiona.flanagan@thomson.comff/jlcCOPYRIGHTCopyright AFX News Limited 2007.
