Schering-Plough Q1 EPS 0.36 usd vs 0.24 usd; sales up 17 pct to 3.0 bln usd

KENILWORTH, New Jersey (Thomson Financial) - Schering-Plough Corp reported a first-quarter net income of 543 mln usd, or 0.36 usd per share, up from 350 mln usd, or 0.24 usd per share the same time last year, as sales rose 17 pct to 3.0 bln usd.

The company said adjusted EPS, which excludes 96 mln usd charges for three upfront licensing payments included in research and development expenses, was 0.42 usd.
