MILAN (Thomson Financial) - Buzzi Unicem SpA sees the Italian construction sector slowing in 2008 after the good performance in 2007, the group's deputy chairman Franco Buzzi said in an interview with daily MF.Buzzi said the Italian construction market has been growing since 1999 and 'sooner a later it will slow down. In Italy, 2007 started well and it could continue to do so. But in 2008 there may be a slowdown,' he said.He added that his group wants to invest in countries 'with more favourable energy costs. We are completing a minority investment in Algeria that we hope can become a majority (investment).'However, he warned that Buzzi Unicem was not interested in Asia, since 'it is too far away for us both geographically and culturally.'yael.schrage@thomson.comysc/icCOPYRIGHTCopyright AFX News Limited 2007.
