ATHENS (AFX) - Finance Minister George Alogoskoufis said in a press conference that 'while it is well known that Telekom Austria is interested in Hellenic Telecoms (OTE), the Greek government is waiting to receive more detailed information from its privatisation advisors as to what exactly Telekom Austria's interest is and what other interested parties there may be, so they can better weigh their options.'This statement came on the heels of several press reports this morning where Austrian Chancellor Alfred Gusenbauer was quoted as saying that cooperation between Telekom Austria and OTE makes sense, brokers said. The Austrian Chancellor also said Telekom Austria would be ready for talks should the Greek government be interested in selling more than a 20 pct stake, the reports added. The current stake in OTE being offered by the Greek government is a 15 pct stake with possible management responsibilities.Brokers also said that Telekom Austria may not be exactly what the Greek government is looking for regarding OTE, in view of Telekom Austria's large size.Source: Euro2day.gr NewsWirecheryl@euro2day.grcn/cmrCOPYRIGHTCopyright AFX News Limited 2007.
