Alcatel-Lucent wins equipment orders from Nigeria's Globacom worth 600 mln usd |

PARIS (AFX) - Alcatel-Lucent said it has won contracts worth over 600 bln usd from Nigeria's Globacom for the supply of both fixed and mobile network equipment, including internet and optical network applications.The network expansion order will allow Globacom to raise its subscriber levels to 35 mln by the end of this year, compared with 12 mln currently, and will provide GPRS and UMTS third-generation mobile services.'Our long-standing collaboration in mobile is now being broadened to multimedia fixed services and internet protocol-based backbones, delivering a network infrastructure that will help Globacoms customers to enjoy the most advanced services,' said Etienne Fouques, president of Alcatel-Lucents carrier activities.paris@afxnews.comjs/jagCOPYRIGHTCopyright AFX News Limited 2006.
