Hollis-Eden gets new HHS date on award |

SAN DIEGO (AFX) - Drug developer Hollis-Eden Pharmaceuticals Inc. said Thursday the Department of Health and Human Services set a contract award date for which its radiation sickness drug under development is a candidate.The agency revised its award date to March 7. Previously, Hollis-Eden expected a decision by Jan. 31, and prior to that, by the end of September.The company previously said its drug Neumune is in the lead for a bid by the agency under the government's Project BioShield program. The program aims to develop a stockpile of treatments to be used in case of a nuclear or chemical attack. Neumune is aimed at treating overexposure to radiation sickness, or acute radiation syndrome.Hollis-Eden conducted late-stage trials of Neumune in 2006.Shares of fell 28 cents, or 5.3 percent, to $5.07 on the Nasdaq in morning trading.
