CLEARWATER, Fla. (AFX) - Computer products distributor Tech Data Corp. said Thursday it formed a joint venture with Brightstar Corp., a Miami-based wireless distributor and supply chain services provider, to distribute mobile phones and other wireless devices in Europe.Financial details were not disclosed.The new entity, Brightstar Europe Ltd., will be based in Britain and will distribute to mobile operators, retailers and other customers across Europe. The companies said they expect to start operations in March.Tech Data said the venture will benefit from its established presence in Europe and Brightstar's mobile device knowledge.Shares of Tech Data rose 16 cents to $37.30 in morning trading on the Nasdaq.Copyright 2006 Associated Press.
