CVS promotes 2 executives

WOONSOCKET, R.I. (AFX) - Pharmacy operator CVS Corp. said Monday it promoted two executives.

Larry Merlo has been promoted to president of CVS/pharmacy, retail. He previously was CVS executive vice president of stores.

Chris Bodine has been promoted to the new position of president of CVS Health Services. He previously was vice president of merchandising and marketing.

CVS said it created the two positions in response to the company's growth.

CVS has bid $21.2 billion to acquire pharmacy benefits manager Caremark Rx Inc.

CVS shares fell 27 cents to $33.01 during afternoon trading on the New York Stock Exchange.
