This month, the company and its employees have demonstrated their charitable inclinations by conducting a drive for Haiti earthquake relief.
For the past two weeks, Greenshield employees extended their generosity to people in need around the world by participating in an office fundraising drive to aid the impoverished Caribbean island nation as it tries to dig out from the destruction of the Jan. 12 earthquake. The lethal trembler, which reached a magnitude 7.0 on the Richter scale, has Haitian officials expecting about 170,000 deaths.
To help innocent victims of this natural disaster, employees were asked to reach into their pockets and hearts to provide donations. The donations have been collected in-house through the end of the day Feb. 1. The company will match the collected funds. Once the donations are collected, counted, and matched, the proceeds will be presented to the American Red Cross, which has emphasized the need for monetary donations. Money can be donated to the Red Cross through its website, www.redcross.org, or even by text message.
The drive is not the first charitable endeavor for Greenshield. The company has previously worked with local charities on Thanksgiving food donations and the holiday season Toys for Tots toy drive for needy children. The company also holds quarterly blood drives, with its employees rolling up their sleeves every few months to help make sure North Texas has an adequate supply of blood for medical purposes.
