Newton Property Management has strengthened its partnership with GoCardless, a bank payment company, by incorporating Instant Bank Pay, an open banking payment feature, into its existing Direct Debit services.
This integration allows Newton to leverage GoCardless’ unique combination of Direct Debit and open banking payments, enabling the collection of both recurring and one-off payments on a single platform. This advancement is expected to minimize manual administration, save time, and reduce costs by eliminating the high fees typically associated with card payments.
Customers will enjoy a more streamlined experience through a unified self-service portal, allowing them to manage both regular and occasional payments for property management. They will also gain enhanced control over their finances with the new option to select their Direct Debit payment dates.
Vincent Goldie, CEO of Newton Property Management, stated, “At Newton, we are dedicated to modernizing property management. We strive for innovation in our partnerships, and GoCardless is far ahead of the competition when it comes to payment solutions.
“Integrating Instant Bank Pay into our offerings was a logical progression. We have already seen the advantages of using Direct Debit, which has enabled us to redirect hours previously spent on payment administration towards our core business. With the launch of Instant Bank Pay, we can now conveniently manage both one-off and recurring payments on a single platform, alongside the cost savings from switching to bank payments instead of card transactions.”
Pat Phelan, Managing Director of UK & Ireland and Chief Customer Officer at GoCardless, remarked, “Bank payments are ideally suited for property management. The pull-based nature of Direct Debit ensures that rent, service charges, and other bills are automatically collected from customers’ bank accounts on their due dates. By adding Instant Bank Pay, companies like Newton can accept one-off payments with the same quick payment confirmation as card transactions, but without the associated costs. We are thrilled to deepen our relationship with Newton and look forward to helping them leverage payments as a key differentiator.”
Newton utilizes GoCardless through CPL Software, a platform designed for property and block management.
This announcement marks another significant development for both companies. Newton, which serves 35,000 customers across 1,200 locations, recently acquired chartered surveyor Atholls, enhancing its growth and expanding its footprint in Aberdeen. Last month, GoCardless completed its acquisition of Nuapay, which will expedite the rollout of new features enabling merchants to both send and receive payments through GoCardless, including the potential for property managers to pay contractors.
