Why Deepfake Scams Are Surging Across the UK—And Banks Can’t Catch Up

Surprisingly, humans may still have the best defense. Any app notification may not be as successful as teaching frontline employees to spot emotional manipulation, establishing the practice of double-checking instructions, and promoting second-verification procedures. This is not to minimize technology, but to recognize its limitations when emotions are involved.

The fight is not over with concerted investments, more intelligent AI integration, and continuous public awareness initiatives. The playbook is finally being rewritten, but it’s only the beginning.
