Bricoleur Vineyards donates $5 from every bottle of Isla Rose it sells to the V Foundation, and its founders match each case donation to bring the total to $120 per case. Sarah Citron and her team also support other cancer charities.
One in eight women develops breast cancer in the United States. And while there are more than 4 million breast cancer survivors in the nation, the disease is the second leading cause of cancer death in women, according to the American Cancer Society. These statistics are personal for Sarah Citron of Bricoleur Vineyards. She’s one of those cancer survivors, and she knows intimately the hope many individuals and families put in cancer research.
To help fuel that hope and the progress associated with cancer research, Bricoleur Vineyards developed the Sip With Purpose campaign. It supports numerous cancer research projects and programs and creates ways for its visitors to do the same.
How Does Bricoleur’s Sip With Purpose Campaign Work?
Bricoleur commits a certain portion of proceeds from select wines to cancer research. Specifically, through the Sip With Purpose campaign, it donates $5 for every bottle of Isla Rose Brut Rosé it sells to the V Foundation, a nonprofit cancer research funding organization.
A pink wine that helps raise money for cancer research: practical, poetic and beautiful, making it a campaign that fits seamlessly into the Bricoleur Vineyards brand. Even more powerful is the fact that the wine is named after Sarah’s daughter, Isla Rose, who was born on February 4, which is World Cancer Day.
Bricoleur founders go further in supporting the mission behind the campaign. For every case of Isla Rose Brut Rosé purchased, the founders make a $60 donation, totaling up to $120 per case. As of August 2026, sales of ‘All the Restaurants’ Limited Edition Blanc de Blancs also help fund donations to cancer organizations. Wine connoisseurs interested in shopping bottles that support cancer research can check current offerings at Bricoleur’s Sip With Purpose page.
During Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, Bricoleur increases the amount it donates. In 2025, for example, it doubled donations to $10 per bottle and $120 per case. In 2026, Bricoleur will also double donations and the vineyard is donating every $10 entry fee for its 8th Annual Harvest Party to the V Foundation. In 2025, this event alone raised $4,000 for the V Foundation.
A Personal Connection to Cancer Research
Sarah Citron, the co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Bricoleur Vineyards, was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer in 2023. Over the years, she participated in a clinical trial and experienced chemotherapy, radiation, a double mastectomy, reconstructive surgery and proactive removal of her fallopian tubes and ovaries.
She knows what it means to be a cancer survivor, including medication regimens, biannual scans and biannual bone infusions, multiple surgeries and other treatment mechanisms. The I-SPY clinical trial she joined in 2024 resulted in a 40% tumor reduction. Sarah found out about it through the V Foundation.
Organizations Bricoleur Vineyards Supports
The Sip With Purpose campaign is designed to support the V Foundation, which was founded by ESPN commentator and legendary basketball coach Jim Valvano. The foundation has awarded millions in research grants and other funding to support innovations in cancer treatment since 1993.
Bricoleur customers who participate in the Sip With Purpose campaign know that 100% of the resulting donation dollars support research because the V Foundation is set up with an endowment that covers the administrative costs of running the program.
As of August 2026, the V Foundation has:
- Supported research efforts at 71 National Cancer Institute Designated Cancer Centers and other programs
- Awarded more than $450 million in research grants
- Earned a 4 (out of 4) star rating from Charity Navigator 14 times in a row, putting it in the top 2% of charities in the United States
Bricoleur also supports charities such as:
- American Cancer Society
- Cancer Hope Network
- Pickles Group
- To Celebrate Life Breast Cancer Foundation
- Ceres Community Project
- Me Squared Cancer Foundation
- St. Baldrick’s Foundation
At Bricoleur, the personal investment in such charities and their missions runs deep. Sarah Citron and her team have participated personally in fundraising and awareness efforts, such as:
- The Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk, where the vineyard team walked to raise more than $6,000 for the American Cancer Society
- Cycle for Survival, where Bricoleur staff and friends completed a four-hour indoor event in San Francisco and raised $5,000 for the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center
- Sharing wine at events to help raise money for cancer charities, including Miranda McKeon’s 5th Annual Pink Party
Leaving a Lasting Legacy, One Sip at a Time
As of February 2026, Sarah Citron was more than a year cancer-free. But her health battles left her with early menopause and other ongoing effects, including a deep knowledge about the cancer process that only those who go through it and their close family and friends tend to have. The experience has increased her motivation to support research and new treatments, potentially improving outcomes for those who come after her.
Through Bricoleur Vineyard’s efforts, Citron and her team have raised and donated more than $102,000 to cancer research as of summer 2026. It’s a fight they’ll keep fighting.
Breast cancer remains one of the most common cancer diagnoses for women, only behind skin cancer. One-third of all new cancer diagnoses for women each year are related to breast cancer. While death rates have decreased since 1989, demonstrating the efficacy of screening and early treatment, medical researchers, doctors, cancer survivors and nonprofits all agree: there’s more work to be done, for breast cancer treatments and cancer treatments in general.
In speaking about what she wants to see for cancer innovation in the future, Sarah says, of course, that she’d like to see everyone survive. She also points to the importance of personalized treatment, saying, “Every patient should be treated individually and have a treatment plan based on the life that they want to live.” Her efforts with Bricoleur’s Sip With Purpose campaign help support innovation that makes those things more possible.
